Morning made better

Illustrated road showing how Forager Project is at the beginning of taking steps toward sustainability.

At Forager Project, we believe every small step toward sustainability contributes to a larger journey toward a healthier planet. That’s why we’re called Forager Project—we’re always foraging forward, seeking ways to make living “planet healthy” easier for everyone. This is our PROJECT, and we want to share it with you.

Our One Small Step program turns belief into action by embedding sustainability into every facet of our operations one step at a time. But One Small Step isn’t just a program—it’s a philosophy woven into everything we do. We started by making organic, plant-based food because we believed these were the most powerful first steps we could take toward a sustainable future.

But we won’t stop there! Foraging is an ongoing journey, one where we’re always asking, ‘What else can we do to make an even bigger impact?’ Below, you’ll see some steps we’re taking to push further. From people to packaging, each step we take moves us forward to living planet healthy,” and with you by our side, there’s no limit to the difference we can make.

Taking One Small Step Toward a More Sustainable Future with Our Cashew Farmers

We’re cashew-obsessed, using over 2.5 million pounds a year from countries like Vietnam, Cambodia, and Côte d’Ivoire. But sourcing cashews is more than just a business for us—it’s a responsibility. That’s why we’ve partnered with ofi and GIZ to launch CashewNuss, a transformative program that helps over 10,000 cashew farmers in Côte d’Ivoire move toward a brighter future one step at a time.

Our First Steps Forward with CashewNuss?

Breaking Stereotypes: Building strong, resilient farming communities.

Climate Adaptation: Providing sustainable solutions to weather the challenges of climate change.

Organic Practices: Supporting the transition to sustainable organic cashew production.

What Will The Journey Look Like?

With initiatives already underway, by the end of 2026, we’ll have launched the following transformative programs:

Business Training: Teaching 1,000 female farmers to enhance their business acumen, allowing them to improve their farming practices, and operate their small farming businesses more effectively.

Organic Certification: Assisting 1,000 cashew farmers transition to organic by funding their organic grower certifications. Many cashew farmers in Côte d’Ivoire are already growing organically, and this will provide them with greater support by recognizing the value of their higher-quality product with certified organic!

Youth Empowerment: Providing business and farming training for 75 young (18-25 years of age) farmers to foster the next generation of agricultural leaders.

Infrastructure Development: Funding the construction of a new cashew drying yard and refurbished warehouse to improve production efficiency and quality.

Good Agricultural Practices Training: Training 9,000 farmers on climate smart agriculture to empower farmers to adopt sustainable farming practices that will increase yields, livelihoods, and resilience while protecting the environment.

Stepping Up Our Packaging Efforts

Every great product deserves great packaging. While packaging is essential to getting our delicious foods safely to your store, we are working to lessen the impact on our planet. That’s why we’re taking One Small Step to reduce our environmental footprint by incorporating more recycled materials into our packaging.

What does that mean?

Instead of creating new plastic, we’re using recycled plastic (rPET) from materials that consumers like you have already recycled. This means no new plastic is made. By repurposing what’s already out there, we lower our environmental impact and reduce reliance on virgin plastics.

Our Plan to Make a Difference:

We have a plan to make this transition happen.

STEP ONE: Bottles

By November 2024, all our bottles will be made with 98% post-consumer recycled plastic (rPET). Look for the green tag on the label to spot our new recycled packaging!

STEP TWO: Yogurt Cups

By April 2025, our 5.3oz yogurt cups will shift to at least 60% recycled PET, paired with 80% recycled paperboard sleeves. When you see the green tag, you know you’re holding one of our rPET cups.

Your Impact

Together, we can keep over 500,000 pounds of virgin plastic out of the environment each year—and you can help make it even more by recycling! Every small step we take together leads to a greener, cleaner future.

Next Steps in Our Packaging Journey

This is just One Small Step toward more sustainable packaging. We’re always innovating—exploring new ways to transition more products to post-consumer packaging, increase recycled content, and even experiment with compostable options. We think about this a lot (as you can probably tell), and we’re excited to keep pushing for what’s best for the planet.

What One Small Step can you take to help?

You can help make the impact even bigger! Recycling your bottle, tub, or cup is the next step in making our efforts more impactful. Together, we can create real, lasting change that helps make the world a better place. To ensure maximum impact always check your labels to see how to properly recycle
